ARTIST NEWS


REMNANTS, an installation by Lisa Neighbour, is currently on show until December at the Carnegie Art Center in North Tonawanda, New York as part of the ‘Alternating Currents’ exhibition at this year’s “Beyond/In Western New York,” which is hosted by the Albright Knox gallery in Buffalo.


Shaun Morin (the slomotion) recently had a solo exhibition entitled ‘Recits fragmentes’ at La Maison des Artistes Visuels Francophones in Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is open until November 17. Kris Knight’s work will be appearing in a variety of venues in the near future. His work will be among the art auctioned off in Line Art Auction 2010, which benefits the LGBT Youthline. Locust Projects in Miami will also be including his work in their Smash and Grab exhibition in November, and also in Miami, Spinello Gallery is showing his paintings in an exhibition entitled ‘Littlest Sister 10,’ running from November 13-December 5, 2010. Konekt Magazine will be featuring his portfolio and an interview in their next issue, which you can preview on YouTube here. Kris is currently preparing for a solo show at our gallery in May 2011.


Michael Swaney has a solo show entitled ‘The Corner’ at Galeria Victor Saavedra, Barcelona, which opened October 21, 2010. His work will also be included in ‘The Xmas Show,’ a group show at Galleri Christoffer Egelund in Copenhagen, on view from December 10, 2010 to January 15, 2011.


Heather Goodchild recently collaborated with Doug Paisley to create the cover art for his latest album ‘Constant Companion’ and had her work in ‘The Dazzle,’ a group show at Narwhal Art Projects, Toronto. She also participated in ‘Women,’ a group show at Silas Marder Gallery in Bridgehampton, NY.


Also taking part in ‘Beyond/In Western New York’ is John Dickson. His solo show at Big Orbit Gallery in Buffalo continues into January 2011 and includes a new live-feed video, Shadow of the Vampyre, which is loosely modeled on a section of Werner Herzog's film Nosferatu.


In addition to his upcoming show at KMCAP (see above for details), Dennis Ekstedt is having a solo show at Herringer Kiss Gallery in Calgary. ‘Event Horizon’ will run from March 5 to April 2, 2011.


Holly Farrell has a show coming up at Megumi Ogita Gallery in Tokyo called ‘Tammy,’ which will be on view from November 25 through December 18, 2010. Her June solo show at our gallery was reviewed by Magenta Magazine and Blog TO.


Rob Hengeveld will be in a number of shows in the next few months. He is part of the exhibition ‘Powers of Ten’ at InterAccess Toronto, curated by Jeannie Cherniack and open from November 26, 2010 through to January 22, 2011. His work will also be included in ‘Out Thinking in Circles, In Circles Thinking Out,’ curated by Kyle Beal at Galerie Push in Montreal. The exhibition opens on December 2, 2010. Galerie Sans Nom in Moncton, New Brunswick will be showing his work in their exhibition ‘Kentucky Perfect’ which runs from February 18 to March 18, 2011. Prairie Dog Magazine recently reviewed his work ‘Kentucky Perfect,’ featured in his summer exhibition at the gallery ‘Greener Shade of Green’ and included in the exhibition ’Natural Forms’ at Neutral Ground Contemporary Art Forum. On September 13, 2010, CBC Radio One spoke about his work in ‘The Art Of Lawn’ on their show ‘The Afternoon Edition.’ ‘Natural Forms’ was also reviewed by Martin Gourlie on the Regina Urban Ecology blog on September 14, 2010.


Rob MacInnis recently took part in an exhibition entitled ‘Beyond Imaginings: Eight artists encounter Ontario’s Greenbelt’ at Harbourfront Centre, which features his large-scale photographs. His work was also included in ‘Bestiary,’ an exhibition in various media organized by The Wassaic Project and curated by Sally Morgan Lehman, Liz Parks and Sally Zunino, which ran from June 27 – July 25th 2010.
